Medical advances have taken cosmetic facial treatments to a new level using our own plasma to smooth the skin and diminish lines and wrinkles. What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using tiny micro-needles to make microscopic holes in the targeted area of the face. Immediately following that, a cosmetic solution to add volume and smooth the skin is applied over the area. Once applied, it absorbs into the tiny holes to the inner layers of the skin. By making the holes, the skin is more apt to get the maximum benefit of any solution applied to the skin. The result is plumper skin that looks healthy and radiant.
Benefits of Microneedling
Not only is microneedling more cost effective when compared to other skin rejuvenating treatments, it provides benefits such as:
- No negative side effects or risks of allergic reactions
- Little to no downtime or recovery
- Quick in-office treatment
- Good for all skin types
- Treats all areas around the face including the neck and scalp
How is Microneedling Performed?
A small handheld device with tiny needles glides over the targeted area of the face to penetrate the layers of skin typically up to 2mm deep and at a slight angle creating tiny wound-like marks. A solution or serum is then spread over the tiny marks – hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C serums, PRP, and other solutions – so that they can be better absorbed by the skin. When this is done, the body automatically thinks that there is injury to the area and responds by producing new collagen and elastin which plumps the skin making it look smoother and fuller not to mention void of wrinkles and lines. Once the serum is absorbed into the skin, another calming solution is applied to relax the skin. To make the procedure easier and without pain, a numbing cream is applied prior to using the microneedling device.
With Microneedling, patients may return to their normal activities following their treatment. Any slight redness or other effects is gone within several hours. Once the tiny wounds have healed, the results begin to appear. Most of the visible results take several weeks to fully materialize and last up to a year depending on the condition of the skin.
How Much Does Microneedling Cost?
Microneedling varies in cost with every patient as it depends on the number of areas to be treated, the extent of the areas and the amount of damage to the skin. During a consultation with Dr. Lebowitz, we typically discuss the cost of the treatment as well as our payment options and financing.
Is Microneedling Right for Me?
Microneedling is right for most skin types as long as no medical conditions involving your blood are present. It is especially good for skin that is too sensitive for other more abrasive resurfacing procedures.
During your Microneedling consultation, Dr. Lebowitz reviews your medical history and evaluates your current health to ensure you are healthy and have no medical conditions that may prevent you from having this treatment. He also evaluates the areas you want treated to make sure microneedling is the best treatment option for your skin. If you have any questions, he spends all the time you need answering them along with going over the details of the treatment process.
